Applications are open now for the fully funded Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Programme 2020 Fully Funded. It is a national initiative which is funded by the Department of Education and Skills and managed by the Council.
In last year, we invested in a total of 1,193 postgraduate scholars, with over 5,000 individual scholarships for excellent research awarded to date.

The Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Programme is unique in the Irish research landscape and complements other channels for funded postgraduate education in the Irish eco-system. Among its features are:
- individual, prestigious awards for excellent research in the name of the applicant;
- an objective selection process using international, independent expert peer review;
- funding across all disciplines, from archaeology to zoology;
- awards for bottom-up, non-directed research, with the exception of those funded by our strategic funding partners.
Eligible Nationality
Applicants will belong to one of two categories: nationality and place of residence.
For category 1, the BOTH must fulfil both criteria:
- National of a Member State of the European Union OR of Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein or Switzerland
- Usually resident in a Member State of the European Union or in Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein or Switzerland for a continuous period of three out of five years before 1 October 2019.
All other candidates fall into the second category.

Eligiblity

- Must have done graduate in good regard for masters programme.
- Must have Masters for the doctoral programme.
