A good scholarship opportunity for international is open now. Applications are invited for the international students to apply for the Agha Khan Foundation scholarship Program 2025-2026. Like each year. Agha Khan foundation opens scholarships for international students to study in different universities. Agha khan Foundation offers scholarships for Masters and PhD programs but the preference will be given to Masters degree. This is a mix of need-based and merit-based scholarship and a selection committee will decide the winners after evaluating the applications. Applicants from selected under developing countries and excellent backgrounds can apply for the scholarship and winners will be chosen by Agha Khan Foundation.
The AKF ISP awards offer scholarships to Masters and PhD students, covering tuition and living expenses. The awards are structured as half grant and half loan, with the loan requiring repayment after graduation or termination of studies. Masters students receive the scholarship for the entire duration of their studies, while PhD students receive it for the first two years and must then find alternative funding. To maintain the award, students must demonstrate good academic standing and ongoing financial need. A guarantor is required to co-sign the award agreement.
The application process for AKF ISP awards is handled by local units of the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF), Aga Khan Education Services (AKES), or Aga Khan Education Board (AKEB). To begin the application process, interested individuals should answer the questions in the eligibility tool. If deemed eligible, applicants will receive an email address for the local unit responsible for administering their application. Applicants have to repay in Five Years after 6 month of the start of the scholarship program, after the any of the following event happens, a) graduation, b) termination of studies or c) the withdrawal of support following failure to meet the academic standards expected of ISP students.

Age Requirements:
Preference will given to applicants who are under 30 years old but old students can also apply.
Financial Advantages:
AKDN assistant financially to the successful applicants only in terms of tuition fee waiver and living expenses. Agha Khan Foundation will not support candidates with some travel expenses. For Ph.D. programs AKDN will provide support financially only for two years and the rest of the program will be assisted by the students themselves. AKF-ISP also advised students also get some other means of assistance for completing their degree programs. AKF-ISP will prefer those students who also get some other alternative source.
Selection Criteria:
Applicants will get these scholarships if they have the following abilities
- If the applicant has genuine need of the scholarship then he will be given preference for AKDN scholarships
- Applicants must have an excellent academic record
- Applicants intended to get scholarships in a highly reputable university
- Applicants need to get admissions in the relevant field of study which are focused areas of AKDN.
- Applicants must have an interest in extracurricular activities
- Applicants must describe the educational and careers plans in the demonstration
Loan Clauses:
AKDN will only provide 50% amount of the scholarships and the rest of 50% will be provided to applicants as a loan. This loan will be reimbursed by the students with an annual charge of 5% which is necessary for the candidates to return it. A guarantor is required to cosign the loan agreement. The total payback period is 5 years and the applicants will start to give after 6 months of starting their scholarships.
Deadline:
The last date to submit the application for Agha Khan Foundation Scholarship is 31st March 2025. Though this deadline can be an early deadline in different countries in order to process and review applications. Applicants need to contact local officers for updates on deadlines. Later or incomplete applications will not be entertained.
Application Procedure:
The application process starts 1st of January each year. Applicants will get the application form from AKF offices or Aga Khan Education Services. Boards in their relevant countries. Incomplete applications will be back to the applicants not further processed.
Interview and Selection Process:
Applicants should be prepared to be interviewed by the local scholarship committee about their financial situation, their academic performance, extracurricular achievements, and career paths. Applicants will be notified after the selection meetings which will be held in late June or early July.
