Asia Kakehashi Exchange Program in Japan Fully Funded

Asia Kakehashi Exchange Program Project Building Bridges between High School Students in Japan and Asia that Japan will provide opportunities for Asian high school students studying Japanese to live in Japan for ten months. Asia Kakehashi Scholarship is a Japanese government-sponsored program for Asian high-schoolers interested in building their global competence. We are looking forward to applying from students who want to become a future leader by spending an exciting year studying abroad in Japan.⁠ High Schools Students, FSc, A Levels, O Levels current students or have already finished High School/FSc/O, A Levels. Fully Funded Exchange Program to stay in Japan for 08 Months is open now Funded by Japanese Government.

AFS Intercultural Programs, Japan is appointed to implement the Asia Kakehashi Project in collaboration with AFS Partner organizations and NGOs in Asia from 2018 to 2022.

AFS Japan Exchange Program Content:

• Invite high school students in Asia to study in Japan for 6–10 months.
• Attend Japanese high school while staying with host family or in dormitory.
• Exposure to Japanese culture, local communities and industries.

AFS Japan Exchange Program Support:

Full scholarship sponsored by the Japanese Government.

All participants will be supported by AFS Japan’s experienced local volunteers and professional staff during the program in Japan. Pre-program support will be provided by AFS/NGO under the AFS policies and guidelines.

The scholarship covers domestic and international round-trip airfare, dormitory fees, normal school expenses, health insurance in Japan and all program costs.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants to the program in 2023 must meet the following criteria:

a) between 15 and 18 years of age, born after April 2, 2003 and before April 1, 2006.

b) Citizen of one of the countries/regions listed below at the time of application.

c) Obtained minimum of 60% marks in principle in all subjects in the latest examination at school and overall minimum average of 60% marks in all subjects for the past two years.

d) Learners of Japanese.

e) Demonstrate strong potential of leadership to act as a bridge between the home country and Japan during and after the program.

f) Not have participated in the ASIA KAKEHASHI program before.

Note: Priority will be given to students of families with low incomes.

This scholarship is ideal for students who have excellent academic records, a strong desire to study abroad and motivation to participate in school-based activities. Strong candidates will be ready to fully immerse themselves in the intercultural learning experience for the duration of the program. Applicants should also already be studying Japanese.
