A.S. Mowat Prize
It was established in 1984 to recognize outstanding achievement by a student in their first year of a master’s program in any discipline at Dalhousie University. This scholarship is available for both Canadian and international students. The students must be enrolled in the first year of a master’s program at Dalhousie University as of the application deadline.

Abdul Majid Bader Graduate Scholarship
This scholarship is for International students. Applicants from Iran will be given first preference for the award, with international students being considered. Students with ranking (>3.7/4.3) in their last two years of academic study may apply. The scholarship is valued at $40,000 for one 12-month academic year of full-time study. The scholarship is renewable, subject to an annual progress review. The award can be held for a maximum of 24 months of full-time study. Fees are not waived and must be paid out of the award.

Chinese Scholarship Council – PhD scholarship
The Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC) provides scholarships to students intending to pursue doctoral studies abroad. CSC provides up to four years of funding for up to 20 new PhD students each year, during which time each student’s Dalhousie supervisor will also provide funding to cover tuition & incidental fees.

Dr. P. Anthony Johnstone Memorial Bursary
This fund is used to assist a humanities or social science graduate student who has a record of interest and involvement in social justice and human rights. Competition dates are March 15 and October 31 each year. A bursary of at least $2,000 will be awarded at each competition. The students must be enrolled in a humanities or social sciences degree program and have an interest and involvement in social justice and human rights.

FGS Emergency Bursary

Killam Predoctoral Scholarship Level 1 (Master’s)
This intent is for the master’s students may hold a Level 1 Killam Scholarship for up to 24 months (but not past the end of the second year of your program). Awards are open to both Canadian and international students. As applicants must be eligible to receive scholarship support for at least two years, only master’s students who have yet to begin their program may apply.

Killam Predoctoral Scholarship Level 2 (Doctoral)

Awards are open to both Canadian and international students. The students must have spent less than 24 months in your doctoral program by May 1st of the award year.

Michael Smith Foreign Study Supplements

A total of 250 awards are available each year and are divided among the three agencies—the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).

This award will support the growth, acquisition, and retention of highly skilled individuals who are advancing and translating knowledge in disease detection, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention, strengthening health care delivery systems, caring for vulnerable populations, and promoting better opportunities for future health and wellbeing.
