SBW Berlin Scholarship for International Students

International students can now apply for the SBW Berlin Scholarship in Germany.  The SBW scholarships provide financial assistance to young people from low-income families so they can use their education in Germany to advance long-term nonprofit projects, preferably back home. Scholarships are awarded Based on the student’s academic credentials, personal qualities, and social requirements. Scholarships are available for international students to study in Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes at institutes in Berlin and Potsdam. In general, all scientific and artistic disciplines are available under the scholarship.

Under this scholarsips students can study in any institute in Berlin or Potsdam. The SBW Berlin Scholarship Program stipulates that students’ stays must be restricted to the time necessary for their academic pursuits. This scholarship is given by SBW Berlin in the form of a loan that must be repaid when the funding period has ended. If they return to their native country after completing their education, they are not required to pay back the loan. One of the key requirements for the SBW Berlin scholarship is the intent to work for at least 18 months in the supported student’s home country following graduation.

Scholarship Benefits

The accepted candidates’ necessary living expenses are covered by the SBW Berlin scholarship programme.

• The award comprises a waiver of the tuition fee.
• Accommodation.
• A stipend of up to 550 euros per month.
• The cost of your travel from your country of origin to Berlin and back again.
• If required, a German or English course.
• A grant for the charitable endeavor, if required.

International students can also apply for Miami University Scholarships.

Eligible countries and groups

Can apply for the SBW Berlin scholarships:

• Foreign nationals from South America, Asia, Africa, and Eastern Europe.
• Foreigners who are homeless
• Identified as refugees.
• People who have an establishment permit.
• People who possess a lengthy EU residency authorization.
• Students from EU and EEA nations who worked in Germany prior to continuing their education in a job that was connected to their studies.
• University students from EU or EEA nations who have a legal right to remain permanently as specified by the Law on Freedom of Movement.

Scholarship Requirements

Those who wish to apply for the SBW Berlin scholarship must fulfil the following criteria:

• Between the ages of 18 and 30.
• The average scores are at least 2.0 weighted averages in German.
• Able to provide documentation demonstrating that they did not reside in Germany for more than 18 months before to applying.
• There are no first-degree relatives live there permanently.
• Plan to spend at least 18 months working in their home country following graduation.
• Work or volunteer experience in the nonprofit industry.
• Capable of demonstrating a low net income.

Deadline

Each year, the deadlines for applications are set for May 15 through June 30 and November 15 through December 31.

Early August is the anticipated date of the final scholarship award decision.

Email your application to application@sbw.berlin together with all certifications and supporting documents in PDF format and in either German or English.

Please submit an English or German translation of any documents that were issued in a different language.

Simple copies and translations are adequate for the application. Please attach the following files to your email:

• Application form

• Cover letter (one or two pages).
• CV, or curriculum vitae.
• A copy of the most recent transcript from a college or university that lists the grades and grade point average.
• A copy of your most recent academic diploma (high school diploma or university certificate).
• Details regarding net household income.
