Smart Up Scholarship Program at Université Paris Cité

The Smart Up Scholarship Program, offered by Université Paris Cité, aims to attract the best international students Masters Program. The program provides 160 individual scholarships, each worth €10,000, to eligible students. These scholarships are awarded for one year and are intended to assist students with their studies, although additional financial resources are necessary to cover living expenses in Paris. The scholarships are not cumulative with other scholarships and must be used for the academic year 2024-2025.

The SMARTS-UP scholarships are available for international students who are applying for Master’s programs at one of the 26 Graduate Schools affiliated with Paris City University. The eligibility criteria include being a new student to the French higher education system, except for international students preparing a joint-degree in collaboration with Université de Paris. Additionally, applicants must be from countries other than France and should not hold any degree from a French university or higher education institution. Students from a wide range of countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, India, China, and many others, are eligible to apply for these scholarships.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for the SMARTS-UP Scholarship Program at Université Paris Cité are as follows:

  • International Students: Applicants must be international students. French citizens are not eligible for the scholarship.
  • New to French Higher Education System: Applicants must be new to the French higher education system, with the exception of international students preparing a joint-degree in collaboration with Université de Paris.
  • No Previous Degree from a French University: Applicants should not hold any degree from a French university or French higher education institution.
  • Eligible Programs: The SMARTS-UP scholarships are available for Master’s programs offered by the 26 Graduate Schools affiliated with Université Paris Cité. The specific list of eligible programs can be found on the SMARTS-UP website.
  • Additional Registration Requirement: Applicants from certain countries are also required to register via the Campus France platform in parallel with their SMARTS-UP application. This is a separate but mandatory procedure.

Scholarship Benefits

The SMARTS-UP Scholarship Program at Université Paris Cité offers the following benefits to successful applicants:

  • Each awardee will receive a scholarship worth €10,000. This amount is paid in three installments.

Application Deadline

Last date to apply for Smart Up Scholarship Program is 19th January 2024, 5pm (CET).

How to Apply

For general guidelines for Smart Up Scholarship Program is given here. The call will be opened from the 1st December 2023 until the 19th January 2024, 5pm (CET);

  • The admissibility of the applications will be checked by the university services, then each Graduate
    School will assess the candidates;
  • Applicants will be informed of the decision by email early April 2024;
  • For applicants on the waiting list, the final decision will be communicated in May;
  • Awardees will join Université Paris Cité in September 2024.
