Burger King Scholarship

The Burger King Scholars Program was originated in memory of it’s Co-founder James “Jim” W. McLamore, He has the firm believe in the importance of higher education and aims to advance education all over the world by providing programs in all communities where Burger King operates. Currently it is working in 36 countries and to facilitate programs in all the those countries. This program provides scholarships to staff, employees’ spouses or domestic partners, employees’ youngsters and high school seniors in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada. Moreover, it contributes for higher education. Since 2000, the scholars program has awarded $55 million in scholarships to more than 45,000 high school students and in 2022, the Foundation awarded over $4.6 million in scholarships to nearly 4,000 students in North America. Their aim is to provide assist to the most deserving students in North America to pursue further studies and to reach their goals.

Scholarship award range from $1,000 to $50,000 and are planned to help students in the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam and Canada to offset the cost of attending college or post-secondary vocational/technical school. The applicants are invited to apply for the Burger King Scholars program if they are a high school senior in one of those locations. The eligibility criteria that  they should have a additive high school criteria GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent). Applicants will be selected based on their grade point average, work experience, extracurricular activities and community service.

Bachelor Students in USA can apply for Dell Scholars Program, which awards around 500 scholarships per year

Application Tracks

There are three applications tracks, details are as follows,

1)High School Senior Track

Applicants must meet the subsequent criteria:

• Have a strong academic record with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5
• Should be keen about serving the community and service
• Should be a high school senior, BURGER KING® worker, spouse/domestic partner or child of associate worker.

2) Employees Track

Applicants applying through employees track has two types based on their education,

i) Applicants pursuing traditional postsecondary education

ii) Applicants pursuing an enrichment program

You can also apply for Marconi International University Scholarship which offers scholarships for domestic and international students

Eligibility Criteria

Following are the requirements to apply through Employees track,

• Resident of United States, Puerto Rico, Guam or Canada.
• An employee* of Burger King Corporation or a participating BURGER KING® franchisee (Franchisees)
• A spouse (unless legally separated) or domestic partner** of an employee* of Burger King Corporation or Franchisees.
• A dependent children of an employee of Burger King Corporation or Franchisees (Designated Employer).
• Graduating high school seniors (U.S., Puerto Rico and Guam) or have attained a GED, graduating from grade 12 (Canada).
• Have CGPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.0
• Planning to enroll in University, College, Vocational Training Institute or equivalent in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam or Canada for two years or four years programs. (For traditional postsecondary education)
• Planning to enroll in a accredited institute for less than part-time or on an intermittent basis in GED, enrichment, certification or other course that enhances learning during the 2023-24 academic year

James W. McLamore Whopper Scholarship:

Applicants applying through High School Senior Track and Employees Track will be considered for James W. McLamore Whopper Scholarship, who meets the following criteria,

• Be a citizen of the United States or Canada,
• Have graduated from {high faculty |high school} within the last 3 years or be a full-time student United Nations agency could be a senior at a high school or home school within the United States, Canada or Puerto Rico,
• Students who are applying as a full-time freshman to a four-year accredited, college or university that is located in the United States and is exempt from taxation under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code,
• Students who have a cumulative unweighted grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.3,
• Students who have a minimum ACT Composite score of 25 or a minimum combined SAT score of 1700,
• Students United Nations agency demonstrate a full of life leadership role in community service, athletics, and/or similar co-curricular activity (such as student government, team sports, fraternal life, etc); and,
• Students who demonstrate substantial work experience.

Required Document

• A current, complete high school or school transcript of grades should be uploaded along with your application. Grade reports aren’t accepted. Unofficial or on-line transcripts should show student name, faculty name, grades and credit hours for every course and term the course was taken.
• A listing of your work experiences and involvement at school and community activities
• BURGER KING worker info if your application is to be related to with associate worker
• If applicable, your family’s money info, a duplicate of your parents’ most up-to-date form filed with the government agency or Revenue North American nation is also useful

Award Amount

• The McLamore Family Foundation is granting up to $50,000 scholarship to three students each year..
• Up to Twelve (12) regional award of worth 5000$ each ( Two awards per region) for most qualified employees.
• Up to Six King awards of worth 10,000$ for top employees.
• Number of awards depends on franchise performance.

Deadline

The application period for the 2023-2024 cycle begins on Oct. 15, 2022 and closes Dec. 15, 2023.
